IKI SOMACORE Project Lead

Konservasi Indonesia is hiring an IKI-SOMACORE (Solutions for Marine and Coastal Resilience in the Coral Triangle) Project Lead where the main work will be in the Sunda Banda Ecoregion. The Sunda-Banda Ecoregion is one of Konservasi Indonesia’s geographical focuses that encompasses provinces of Bali, NTB, NTT, Maluku, Southeast Sulawesi, and South Sulawesi. The IKI SOMACORE project aims to support further development adaptation and implementation of the Seascapes General Model and Regional Framework for Priority Seascapes in the respective countries in close cooperation with the CTI-CFF SWG. The Seascapes General Model has been developed in close cooperation with the partner countries and provides guidance and advice in the establishment and implementation of Seascapes. The project focuses on Lesser Sunda Seascapes (LSS) which covers two countries, Indonesia, and Timor Leste. The IKI SOMMACORE Project Lead will oversee the implementation of the project in both countries, Indonesia, and Timor Leste.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Project Lead will be responsible for providing overall technical leadership, management, stakeholder engagement, donor relations, and overall project performance. Performs project management, planning, oversight, leadership, and coordination, ensuring all project deliverables are exceptionally exceeded within budget and compliance. The Project Lead will head the Programme Management Team (PMT) which will be responsible for the:

  • Develop program long-term strategies, and objectives, detailed implementation plans, and metrics, and lead the implementation of the program.
  • Annual work planning and budgeting and for the monitoring and reporting of program expenditure.
  • Prepare reports to the Programme Steering Committee (PSC), the CTI-CFF Senior Officials Meeting (SOM), and the Seascapes Working Group annually as well as Technical and Financial Progress reports to BMU.
  • Lead engagement in the BMU-GIZ-CI-IUCN Somacore Consortium and ensure effective coordination between the partners.
  • Ensure effective coordination and implementation of Somacore project teams led by Konservasi Indonesia and CI Timor Leste for the Lesser Sunda Seascape.
  • Function as official representative to CTI-CFF and CTI-CFF Development Partners and other strategic partners critical to program success.
  • Provide strategic oversight and team leadership to effectively implement program activities and ensure high-impact outputs and alignment and integration with organizations’ strategies.
  • Ensure program financial sustainability by securing program funding by partnering with other KI and CI staff on funding proposals and regional/global fundraising efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A master’s degree, Ph.D. preferred, in education or a field related to the objectives of the project with a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible international work experience implementing multi-sector programs with demonstrated strong management skills.
  • At least 5 years of relevant leadership and management experience, including direct supervision of professional and support staff and assembling teams working on multi-faceted international development programs; must have established networks (or the demonstrated capacity to establish relationships) with key stakeholders including government at the national and regional level, industry and education and training institutions along with significant education/training, skills qualifications, and workforce or private sector engagement in all representations and technical meetings with senior-level stakeholders.
  • Senior-level program or project management experience, preferably in the global conservation, NGO, advocacy, or related for-profit arena.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects or initiatives involving multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Superb technical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Proven leadership skills and success in effectively inspiring and engaging diverse work groups in a multicultural environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A record of success partnering with, and influencing, key stakeholders and successfully raising funds.
  • Proven ability to multitask and meet priorities. Adept at working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities with limited supervision.
  • Fluency in English is required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Local and/or international travel of 30% or more, often in difficult travel conditions.
  • Ability to work in remote locations or under difficult working conditions.
