The Orangutan Foundation (OF-UK) currently has a vacancy for a Program Manager.

OF-UK is a non-profit organization based in London, whose mission is to ensure the survival of orangutans in the wild, together with their natural forest habitats. OF-UK has been working to conserve orangutans and their habitats in Indonesia since 1990. All our conservation programs in Indonesia are carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment & Forestry cq. Directorate General for Conservation of Natural Resources and Ecosystems (Ditjen KSDAE) under an MoU. Our long-term programs focus on conservation, research, and education, and are designed in collaboration with the technical implementing units (UPTs) of Ditjen KSDAE.

The Program Manager will lead our country office OF-UK Indonesia, based in Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan, and report to the Foundation’s Director and Director of Indonesia Programmes in the UK.

The main responsibilities of the Program Manager include:

  • Ensuring all OF-UK’s programs in Central Kalimantan are planned, implemented, and reported on time and in accordance with the MoU with MoEF/Ditjen KSDAE and all applicable regulations.
  • Ensuring good coordination and working relationships are maintained at all times with all government and non-government partners, including the UPT of the Ministry of Environment & Forestry (especially BKSDA-Kalteng, BTNTP, and related KPHP).
  • Managing OF-UK Indonesia personnel (currently 66), including line managers, field staff, and support staff.
  • Managing OF-UK’s infrastructure and equipment in Indonesia, including offices, guard posts, post-release monitoring camps, research station, information center, vehicles, and boats, supported by the line managers
    and field staff.

The minimum requirements for this position are:

  • Minimum 5 years experience as program manager or project manager in the context of wildlife conservation and/or conservation management of natural resources.
  • Must have experience with detailed budgeting processes.
  • Evidence of managing line managers and/or field staff.
  • Experience of collaboration with Ditjen KSDAE and/or BKSDA/BTN preferred.
  • Degree in forestry, biology, or management of natural resources.
  • Fluent in both oral and written English.
  • Indonesian citizen.
