Technical Specialist for Marine Conservation and Fisheries
About LINI
LINI is an independent, non-profit foundation registered in Indonesia, dedicated to conserving and sustainably managing marine resources across the country. Our work focuses on empowering coastal communities, fostering collaboration, and bridging the public and private sectors to address coastal and marine issues. We are committed to strengthening our learning and training center in marine conservation and sustainable fisheries in North Bali, while ensuring impactful initiatives across our Marine Conservation and Fisheries programs in all field projects.
We are seeking a Technical Specialist: Marine Conservation and Fisheries to support our Field team in executing current projects while enhancing the quality and impact of our programs.
This will be achieved through high-standard documentation, technical reporting, and the development of scientific outputs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in technical writing and research, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights that advance conservation and fisheries management initiatives. This position involves close collaboration with project coordinators and stakeholders, leveraging technical expertise to further LINI’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance and support to project teams, ensuring alignment with conservation and fisheries management objectives.
- Develop and produce high-quality technical outputs, including scientific papers, project reports, case studies, and other documentation that reflect LINI’s achievements and impact.
- Collaborate with project coordinators to compile, analyze, and document data from field sites, translating findings into actionable insights and recommendations.
- Support the development of new initiatives that align with LINI’s mission and expand our reach by working closely with stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, and private sector partners.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- A Master’s degree or equivalent with at least 3 years of experience in technical roles related to marine conservation, fisheries, or environmental sciences. Practical experience may substitute for formal qualifications.
- Demonstrated ability to write comprehensive reports, with a proven track record of published papers in reputable journals or platforms.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking skills, and the ability to synthesize data from various sources into coherent and actionable outputs.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and ambiguous environment, with the flexibility to navigate changing project requirements and priorities.
- Familiarity with marine and fisheries-related monitoring frameworks, research methodologies, and conservation practices.
- High proficiency in technical tools and software, including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint. Knowledge of statistical software is an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical information effectively to diverse audiences.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively in a team environment.
Position Details
- Job Type: Full-Time, based in Bali, with 40% travel to field sites.
- Work Hours: Five days per week, with occasional weekend/holiday on-duty shifts and flexibility in working hours.
