Country Purpose:

Islamic Relief Worldwide in Indonesia has been operating since 2003 and officially became Yayasan Relief Islami Indonesia in January 2022. The objective of the Yayasan Relief Islami Indonesia program is to contribute to the social welfare of the Indonesian people and to alleviate suffering. The main sectors for the program include:

  • Disaster Risk Reduction
  • Climate Change

The geographical area: NTB, Aceh, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, and Jakarta Province will be expanded to all regions of Indonesia according to the development of the organization. The implementation of the program is carried out directly by YRII or through cooperation partners.

Project Overview:

The overall objective of this project is to make poor people to enjoy their new dignified life after they are graduating from the poverty trap through Ultra Poor Graduation Approach or PK3M (Program Kelulusan Kemiskinan dan Ketangguhan Masyarakat)

The project will be implemented in several districts in NTB province that have high vulnerability to climate change impact and poverty.

For this project, Yayasan Relief Islami Indonesia is seeking a Community Mobilizer based in Lombok, NTB.

Job Purpose:

To support the implementation of the Poverty Graduation and Community Resilience Program (PK3M) at the community level through intensive mentoring of Rights Holders (RHs), strengthening community groups, developing productive livelihoods, and improving access to social and economic services to achieve sustainable graduation outcomes

Responsibilities:

A. Rights Holder (RH) Mentoring and Support

  • Conduct household and business assessments to identify the needs, potential, and challenges faced by Rights Holders using established assessment tools and methodologies.
  • Develop and regularly update business development plans and graduation plans together with Rights Holders.
  • Conduct regular mentoring visits to monitor business progress, household well-being, and achievement of graduation indicators.
  • Provide motivation, coaching, consultation, and guidance to Rights Holders in managing productive businesses and household finances.
  • Ensure active participation of Rights Holders in all program activities.

B. Livelihood Development and Islamic Microfinance

  • Facilitate the distribution of productive asset assistance (asset transfer) and ensure its utilization aligns with approved business plans.
  • Support Rights Holders in developing sustainable livelihood and income-generating activities.
  • Monitor business performance and assist in identifying solutions to challenges faced by Rights Holders.
  • Facilitate and monitor the repayment process of Islamic Microfinance (MFS) funds in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
  • Support Rights Holders in improving access to markets, business development training, and other economic opportunities.

C. Community Mobilization and Organization

  • Mobilize and engage communities through household visits, community dialogues, group meetings, and other participatory approaches.
  • Establish and maintain effective coordination and relationships with village governments, community leaders, religious leaders, women’s groups, and other key stakeholders.
  • Facilitate the establishment, strengthening, and development of community institutions such as Self-Help Groups (SHGs), APEX Bodies, BMT/UPZ, and other community-based organizations.
  • Facilitate regular group meetings to review program progress and develop follow-up action plans.

D. Community Capacity Building and Resilience

  • Facilitate training, awareness-raising, and capacity-building activities related to sustainable livelihoods, food security, health, child protection, disaster preparedness, and other relevant issues.
  • Support the implementation of household food security initiatives, including home gardening and environmentally sustainable agricultural practices.
  • Promote community participation in the development and implementation of community action plans to ensure program sustainability.

E. Monitoring, Documentation, and Reporting

  • Collect, verify, and regularly update Rights Holder data using designated systems and reporting tools.
  • Prepare regular reports on activities, mentoring outcomes, business progress, and Rights Holder achievements.
  • Document Most Significant Change (MSC) stories, best practices, lessons learned, and program success stories.
  • Support monitoring, evaluation, audit activities, and field visits conducted by the program team.

F. Program Support

  • Assist the Project Assistant and program team in implementing all PK3M activities at the village and community levels.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned by the Project Assistant or Project Manager to support the successful implementation of the program.

Requirements:

Education

  • Minimum Diploma (D3) or bachelor’s degree (S1) in Community Development, Agriculture, Livestock/Fisheries, Economics, Social Welfare, or other related fields.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in community empowerment, livelihood development, community mobilization, or poverty reduction programs.
  • Experience working with poor and vulnerable communities is an advantage.
  • Experience in supporting micro-enterprises, community groups, savings and loan schemes, or revolving fund programs is highly desirable.

Competencies

  • Knowledge of Community Economic Empowerment approaches or the Ultra-Poor Graduation approach is an advantage.
  • Understanding of Islamic Microfinance (MFS) principles or Sharia-based revolving fund mechanisms.
  • Strong facilitation and community mentoring skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, networking, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to prepare reports and utilize digital data collection applications.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to program locations and work in rural communities.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Good understanding of the socio-cultural context of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle and possession of a valid motorcycle driving license (SIM C).
  • Ability to communicate in local languages spoken within the program area.
