OF-UK currently has a vacancy for Landscape Conservation Programme Manager.

The Orangutan Foundation (OF-UK) is a UK-based non-profit organization whose mission is to support action to ensure the survival of orangutans in the wild, together with their forest habitats. OF-UK has been supporting the Government of Indonesia to conserve orangutans and their habitats in Indonesia since 1990. All our conservation programmes in Indonesia are carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Forestry cq. Ditjen KSDAE, focusing on conservation, research, and education.

The Landscape Conservation Programme (LCP) Manager will be based at OF-UK’s Indonesia Country Office in Pangkalan Bun, Central Kalimantan and report to the Director and the Program Manager.

Their main responsibilities include:

  • Lead the implementation OF-UK Indonesia’s Landscape Conservation Programme, through collaboration with related stakeholders, especially BKSDA Kalteng, UPTD KPHP, private sector concessionaires (HPH’s and OP companies), Pemda, NGOs.
  • Visit the offices and base camps of the main programme partners to engage them in a conducive manner to collaborate in supporting orangutan conservation measures.
  • Visit their field operations and forest field sites in the programme area in western Central Kalimantan to conduct biodiversity surveys and facilitate monitoring of wildlife populations, especially orangutan populations.
  • Monitor implementation of orangutan conservation strategies and management plans.
  • Conduct data analyses and presentation of results to BKSDA Kalteng and partners.
  • Ensure all activities are properly planned and reported, including the LCP component of OF-UK’s RKT activities with BKSDA Kalteng and RKT implementation reports.

The requirements for this position are:

  • Indonesia citizen.
  • Degree in forestry, biology, environmental science, or natural resources management.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in conducting orangutan population surveys, including fauna and flora biodiversity surveys in orangutan habitats, species identification, and data analyses of survey results.
  • Competence in both oral and written English.
  • Experience with GIS mapping essential.
  • Experience in using camera traps and drones essential.
  • Experience collaborating with private sector forestry and oil palm concessionaires.
  • Experience preparing and implementing wildlife conservation management plans.
  • Driving licence for car (SIM A) an advantage.
