Yayasan Relief Islami Indonesia (YRII) is an independent humanitarian and development organization. YRII, previously Islamic Relief Worldwide in Indonesia as globally with Islamic Relief Worldwide we have been fighting poverty and injustice for 30 years, in a world where more than three billion people still live in poverty
Country Purpose:
Islamic Relief Worldwide in Indonesia has been operating since 2003 and officially became Yayasan Relief Islami Indonesia in January 2022. The objective of the Yayasan Relief Islami Indonesia program is to contribute to the social welfare of the Indonesian people and to alleviate suffering. The main sectors for the program include:
- Water and Sanitation
- Sustainable livelihood
- Education
- Child Welfare
- Shelter
- Disaster Risk Reduction
- Climate Change
- Seasonal
The geographical area: NTB, Aceh, Central Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, and Jakarta Province will be expanded to all regions of Indonesia according to the development of the organization. The implementation of the program is carried out directly by YRII or through cooperation partners.
Project Overview
Islamic Relief Indonesia is currently implementing the House Reconstruction for Poor Families – Phase 3 (HORPF 3) project, reaffirming its commitment to supporting vulnerable communities affected by inadequate housing and disasters. This phase focuses on building safe, dignified, and earthquake-resistant homes for poor and vulnerable families, particularly in Lhokseumawe City, Aceh.
Beyond physical reconstruction, the project seeks to restore dignity, strengthen community resilience, and ensure that the most marginalized families have access to secure and decent living conditions. Community participation is central to the project, with vulnerable voices actively involved at every stage—from identification and planning to implementation and monitoring.
In collaboration with local stakeholders and partners, Islamic Relief Indonesia is committed to upholding international humanitarian standards, including the Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS) and SPHERE Standards, while also integrating essential Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) components. A robust Complaints and Feedback Mechanism (CFM) will be reinforced to ensure transparency, accountability, and meaningful stakeholder engagement.
By addressing both physical infrastructure and social inclusion, HORPF 3 aligns with Islamic Relief’s broader mission to empower communities and promote sustainable, resilient futures.
Project duration will be 10 months
For this project, Islamic Relief Indonesia is seeking Project Officer based in Lhokseumawe – Aceh (10 months project duration).
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Implementation & Technical Supervision
- Plan and carry out project activities according to goals, timelines, and budget.
- Supervise housing construction/repairs to ensure quality and safety.
- Support and guide the technical team in creating designs, BoQs, and construction plans.
- Make sure disaster-resilient and “Build Back Better” techniques are used.
Community Engagement & Coordination
- Work with local authorities, community leaders, and beneficiaries to support smooth project delivery.
- Encourage the involvement of vulnerable groups in decision-making.
- Represent the team in housing/shelter coordination meetings when needed.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Track project progress based on the approved work plan and suggest improvements.
- Visit project sites regularly, collect data, and propose solutions.
- Prepare timely and accurate reports with observations and photos.
Administrative & Logistics Support
- Assist with procurement of materials, tools, and services.
- Keep project files organized, including technical and beneficiary data.
- Help partners compile and submit monthly progress reports.
- Coordinate with logistics and finance teams to ensure smooth operations.
Other Responsibilities
- Maintain professional communication with partners and stakeholders.
- Carry out other tasks assigned by the supervisor related to the housing project.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
- Having minimum 1–2 years of project management experience, preferably in housing, infrastructure, or community development programs.
- Strong technical knowledge of housing construction, structural design, and site management.
- Familiarity with local building codes, safety standards, and participatory construction approaches.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and preferably AutoCAD is a must and other engineering software knowledge is an asset.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in challenging environments.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, working with as a team member.
- Strong initiative and self-motivated, with a strong commitment to teamwork and humanitarian principle.
- Ability to multitask with competing demands under tight deadlines and work under pressure.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with community-based approaches.
- Good communication skills and fluent in English
