Context:
Operational in Indonesia for more than 40 years, IOM Indonesia is one of IOM’s large missions in the world working on a wide range of activities in partnership with the Government of Indonesia, civil society, private sector actors, migrants and communities. IOM Indonesia is engaged in several thematic areas, including: Counter-Trafficking Labour Migration/Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion (CT-LM/LMSI), Disasters, Climate and Resilience (DCR), Immigration and Border Governance (IBG), Refugee Care, Migration Health, Migration Policy and Data Hub, and Resettlement and Voluntary Returns.
IOM’s Immigration and Border Governance (IBG) Division supports Member states in strengthening the policy, legislation, operational systems, human resources and administrative and technical structures required to respond more effectively to diverse migration and border management challenges. IBG project and activities are in line with IOM’s commitment to facilitate orderly, safe and regular migration and mobility.
Under the direct supervision of National Project Officer and the overall supervision of the Programme Manager, the incumbent will work in close coordination with the project team and Communication Unit. The incumbent will be responsible for providing support to the implementation and provision of targeted technical assistance to beneficiaries of the ‘Transcending Borders: Strengthening Coordination, Detection and Management of Migration-Related Transnational Organized Maritime Crime in Indonesia’ project.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Under the guidance of the National Project Officer, become familiar with IOM Indonesia programmes, especially Immigration and Border Governance (IBG) and Counter-Trafficking (CT) areas.
- Assist in the implementation of the project activities, including with administrative support.
- Provide technical support to the monitoring of the project, including providing assistance on the development of monitoring and evaluation tools, such as monitoring trackers, pre-post knowledge test, survey forms, etc.
- Support in consolidating data and information to produce project’s report, graphics, statistic tables, presentations and other documentation to facilitate.
- Assist in note taking, meetings/workshops/activities reporting, and translating project and communication materials to/from Bahasa Indonesia and English.
- Under the guidance of the National Project Officer, provide support in drafting, designing and consolidating contents for visibility products, social media posting, project info sheets, press release, newsletter and other publication materials.
- Support in the logistical preparation and arrangement for project’s activities and events, such as seminars, conferences, meetings, presentations, duty travel and other activities, in coordination with project administrative assistants and project team.
- Attend to relevant learning session, online/in-person trainings relevant to Immigration and Border Governance or Counter-Trafficking to increase thematic knowledge.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
In the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) or recent graduate of Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, Social Science, Law, Communication or a related field;
and/or applicants who are enrolled in a second university degree (graduate school/equivalent) or have graduated with a university degree within one year of graduation.
Experience
- Indonesian National with good knowledge and understanding of migration issues in Indonesia context, is an advantage.
- Previous experience in developing social media contents, publication, and drafting article will be highly considered.
- Prior research/working experience in the field of social science, migration studies, communication, international relation is an advantage.
- Relevant professional or volunteer experience with United Nations, civil society organization or volunteer groups, is an advantage.
Skills
- Technology savvy, proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Sharepoint).
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- Good personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility, analytical and creative thinking.
- Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.
- Willing to learn new knowledge.
Languages
Proficient in English and Bahasa Indonesia, both written and spoken.
