As we are constantly expanding, we are currently hiring to fill the following position for our office in Jakarta:
TFCCA Director
(Code: TFCCA – D)
The Tropical Forest and Coral Reef Conservation Act (TFCCA) or debt-for-nature swap is a financial mechanism to redirect US$35 million in Indonesian debt to fund coral reef conservation through a reef-positive finance mechanism, using a grant-based approach within the Bird’s Head Seascape (BHS), Lesser Sunda Seascape (LSS), and Banda Seascape (BS) in Indonesia. Konservasi Indonesia (KI) has been selected as the grant administrator, which will be responsible in designing the grant mechanism including its call-for-proposal, grantee management and reporting as well as its MEL and communication strategy.
KI is seeking a qualified and motivated individual for TFCCA Director position based in Jakarta. The Director plays a key role to develop the strategic management and implementation of the Tropical Forest and Coral Reef Conservation Act (TFCCA) Program in Indonesia, ensuring alignment with national priorities and international conservation goals. The role involves building relationships with key partners and building good relations with prominent network and Directorate General of Marine Spatial and Ocean Management, the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, NGOs, and other stakeholders. The Director manages the grant-making process with transparency and accountability, develops annual work plans and budgets, maintains relations with the Oversight Committee (OC) and Advisory Committees (AC), and delivers the high-quality output as required.
The Director manages regional staff and responsible for smooth offices operation under his/her supervision.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- S/he will be responsible for the overall management and implementation of TFCCA program.
- Lead the coordination between stakeholders involved in the program including government of Indonesia (Directorate General of Marine Spatial and Ocean Management, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Ministry of Finance), government of United States, NGO partners and trustee.
- Establish and maintain productive and effective relations with the TFFCA OC and AC members
- Develop annual work plans and budgets in order to achieve program goals and objectives effectively and efficiently.
- Manage grant-making process with good governance, transparency, and accountability based on Coral Reef Conservation Agreement (CRCA) and KI guidelines.
- Ensure all activities meet the criteria of high-performance standards and are implemented in compliance with CRCA, and the OC decisions
- Lead the administrative process of the program and the grant proposal
- Represent and lead the communication about the program to stakeholders and wider audience.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform duties as assigned by the supervisor, Oversight Committee and Advisory Committee.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree (Ph.D preferred) in fisheries science, marine ecology, marine biology, fishing technology, or related discipline applicable to marine ecosystem management
- 15 years of relevant experience, including fieldwork on various aspects of coral reef conservation and management, integrated coastal management, and community livelihoods, and/or conservation (grant) financial management.
- 5 or more years of direct supervisory experience and leading cross-organizational teams.
- Team leader and able to work effectively with diverse works groups in a multicultural environment.
- Highly organized, strong statistical, coding, or modeling skills;
- Ability to work under pressure without compromising high-quality results
- Proven ability to communicate effectively to team members, and work cooperatively with internal and external partners;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Bahasa Indonesia;
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
List additional required or preferred qualifications specific to the position.
- Working experiences in one of KI priority seascapes; Bird’s Head Seascape, Lesser Sunda Seascape and Banda Seascape
- Good understanding of Indonesia marine conservation and seascape policies.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work is performed in a typical office environment which requires visits to project sites and other locations.
- Willingness to work flexible hours to support conferences and meetings in different time zones.
