[Communication Officer]
About Organization
Founded in 1999, YCAB Foundation is the founding and flagship organization of the YCAB Social Enterprise Group. With a vision to break the cycle of poverty, YCAB utilizes financial inclusion as a primary instrument to expand and strengthen education for youth from urban low-income families. To date, YCAB has positively impacted over five million young individuals and empowered more than 200,000 ultra-micro women entrepreneurs. In 2024, YCAB Foundation retained its #28 ranking on the TOP 100 SGO/NGO list by TheDotGood, a global nonprofit rating agency based in Geneva, Switzerland.
About Position
The Communication Officer will play a key role in enhancing the visibility and impact of YCAB Foundation through effective communication strategies. This position involves developing and implementing communication plans, managing social media platforms, creating engaging content, and fostering relationships with stakeholders, including donors, partners, and the community
Responsibilities
Production of Communications Deliverables for Programs Implementation
- Collaborate with program teams to gather stories, testimonials, and data to highlight the impact of the organization’s work.
- Collaborate with program teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communication channels.
- Developing and executing strategic communication plans that support program implementation, enhance visibility, and drive stakeholder engagement.
- Provide communication collateral for program implementation teams, such as training modules, social media content, and donor reports.
- Prepare regular reports on communication activities and outcomes.
Social Media Management
- Create compelling content for various platforms, including newsletters, press releases, website updates, and social media posts.
- Manage and grow the organization’s social media presence across platforms
- Monitor social media trends and engage with followers to foster a sense of community and support. Develop KPIs and track the effectiveness of communication initiatives using analytics tools.
Media Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure coverage of the organization’s initiatives.
- Prepare and distribute press releases and media kits to promote events and achievements.
Event Management
- Organize and participate in events, workshops, and community outreach activities to promote the organization’s work.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in communications, preferably in the NGO or nonprofit sector. ●
- Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in social media management and content creation tools.
- Experience with graphic design and multimedia production is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Passion for social change and commitment to the mission of YCAB Foundation.
