Programme Manager – Economy, Trade and Diplomacy

Background

Yayasan Visi Indonesia Raya Emisi Nol Bersih (ViriyaENB) was established with a vision of a net zero society underpinned by an equitable and regenerative economy in Indonesia. We support efforts with cross-cutting approaches to achieve net-zero emissions by midcentury in the energy-related sectors including power, industry, transport and buildings.

We are looking for a strategic, collaborative, and dynamic programme manager to join our growing organisation as a full-time staff member.

Position Summary

As Programme Manager, you will provide strategic, managerial, and operational support to the Programme team. You will oversee a portfolio of grant programmes aligned with ViriyaENB’s 3-year Strategy Framework with a particular focus on Economy, Trade and Diplomacy. You will also be responsible for managing communication between ViriyaENB and grantees, as well as fostering collaboration among grantees and other key partners.

Responsibilities

The Programme Manager is responsible for the following primary duties:

Programme strategy:

  • Translate ViriyaENB’s theory of change into a grantmaking portfolio and partnership-building initiatives related to economy, trade and diplomacy thematic areas.
  • Develop programme strategies aimed at aligning Indonesia’s economy, trade and diplomacy agenda with the country’s net-zero and energy transition goals.
  • Monitor developments and trends on Indonesia’s energy transition, including other climate and development areas relevant to net-zero goals.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing strategies and recommend adjustments as needed.

Grant management:

  • Identify and develop potential grant programmes and partners within the thematic areas.
  • Work with prospective grantees to develop concept notes and proposals.
  • Evaluate proposals against predefined criteria and provide recommendations to the Grant Committee.
  • Periodically assess grant progress and review financial and narrative reports to ensure accountability and impact.

Collaborations and partnership development:

  • Work with internal teams and external partners to assess challenges and opportunities that affect the programme strategies and implementation.
  • Identify and initiate collaborative interventions and strategic partnerships
  • Facilitate collaboration among grantees and relevant stakeholders to maximise impact.

Communication and reporting:

  • Support the development of materials related to grant programmes for communication and reporting to internal and external audiences.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in economics, finance, international development, international relations, or any relevant field, and with at least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Indonesia’s economic, trade, and international diplomacy agenda, particularly their relevance to the country’s net-zero and energy transition goals.
  • Demonstrated experience in programme development and project management.
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent relationship management skills, both internally across teams and externally with diverse partners and target groups.
  • Written and oral fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in both in-person and virtual settings with minimal supervision.
  • Flexible, responsive, and thrives under tight deadlines.

Location

This position is based in ViriyaENB’s office in South Jakarta.

Position type

This is a 3-year fixed-term contract position, with the potential for extension based on performance.
