Project Management:
- Planning, Implement, monitor, and evaluate various projects located in West Kalimantan.
- Produce regular project reports; quarterly and annual reports.
- Designing and implementing robust PMEL frameworks for sustainability programs
- Ensuring alignment with donor reporting requirements and impact indicators
- Translating strategic goals into executable workplans with clear milestones
Cultivating strategic alliances with donors, private sector actors, and civil society.
Team Oversight:
Supervise and ensure the optimal performance of the GCF project team.
Stakeholder Relations:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with provincial and district governments.
Partnership Building:
Build solid relationships with local oil palm companies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
Financial Compliance:
Ensure project expense reporting complies with Solidaridad’s finance and administration reporting standards.
Quality Assurance:
Collaborate with the Senior Program Manager – Agriculture Carbon to ensure the high quality of all project deliverables.
Representation:
Represent the organization in essential stakeholder forums at both the provincial and district levels.
Data Collection: Take responsibility for collecting baseline and endline data for the projects.
Environmental Understanding:
Demonstrate an understanding of biodiversity protection & conservation strategies and related issues such as sustainable commodity and jurisdictional approaches
Other Duties:
Perform any other tasks assigned by the organization.
Qualifications and Skills
Extensive Experience:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior position within the palm oil sector is typically required.
- Strong background in project and programme management, demonstrating a proven track record of successfully implementing, monitoring, and evaluating large-scale projects.
Technical Expertise:
- Deep understanding of certification schemes such as Rain Forest Alliance, Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) systems.
- Strong understanding on biodiversity protection and conservation strategies.
Educational Background:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field like Agriculture, Agronomy, Forestry, or Natural Resource Management is essential.
Geographical Knowledge:
- Demonstrated experience working in Southeast Asia, particularly in Kalimantan, Indonesia, is a key qualification for this role.
- Must possess in-depth knowledge of local regulatory environments, government systems, and community dynamics to effectively lead strategic commodity initiatives, especially within the palm oil sector.
Leadership and Management:
- This is a senior role that requires strong leadership skills to guide and inspire a diverse team.
- Must have a proven ability to manage and develop staff, and to make critical decisions.
Stakeholder Management:
- The ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders is crucial including provincial and district governments, local communities, smallholders, international organizations, and corporate partners.
Strategic Planning and Systems Thinking:
- Developing long-term strategies that integrate environmental, social, and economic goals
- Applying systems thinking to navigate interdependencies across supply chains
- Anticipating risks and opportunities in dynamic policy and market contexts.
Financial Acumen:
- The role involves overseeing significant budgets.
- Must be proficient in budget management, financial planning, and ensuring compliance with financial reporting standards.
Communication and Reporting:
- Exceptional communication skills are essential for this role, enabling the Programme Manager to effectively represent the organization in multi-stakeholder forums and strategic dialogues.
- Must be adept at preparing high-quality project documentation and reports tailored to both internal and external audiences.
- Ability to coordinate seamlessly across functions, bridging programmatic, financial, operational, and technical teams, to ensure alignment, clarity, and timely delivery of project outcomes.
Problem-Solving and Adaptability:
- The palm oil sector can be complex and fast-paced, requiring a manager who is adaptable, resilient, and skilled at identifying and resolving complex issues and risks as they arise.
Capacity Building and knowledge transfer:
- Facilitating training and mentoring for field teams, partners, and smallholders, promoting peer learning and south-south collaboration, provide support on developing toolkits, manuals, and participatory learning materials
