OVERVIEW

SINTAS Indonesia Foundation (SINTAS), founded by well experienced conservation practitioners who have been dedicating their lifetime professional careers in addressing various major conservation issues. SINTAS, means “survive” and stands for Save the Indonesian Nature and Threatened Species, has been established with the realization that the success of conserving the Indonesia natural resources in the long run can only be achieved through a well-rounded leadership of the Indonesian practitioners. SINTAS believes that through its practical vision and missions, it can promote a sustainable development for both the people and the nature following the CBD’s principle of fair and equitable sharing of benefits. SINTAS programs are focus on: (1) Ensuring national leadership in conserving the Indonesian natural resources; (2) Put in place sound science interventions to ensure effective natural resources management, and; (3) To establishment of effective stakeholders’ partnership to ensure comprehensive sustainable development.

SINTAS programs focus on site-level conservation in Sumatra and Java, with projected development at cross-provincial and island levels. SINTAS also has activities at the national level to support national governments in the management of protected areas, species conservation, law enforcement, and education as well as community empowerment.

SINTAS is currently looking for a Communication and Awareness Officer (CAO). As an officer, s/he will be instrumentalin the implementation of an engaging social media strategy and action plan which will deliver virtual, participant-driven content. CAO will maintain The SINTAS’s presence on various social media platforms and help create and publish contents that are relevant to our audience. S/he will regularly analyze and report on the activity on social media networks and website.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITY

Social Media

  • Updates SINTAS media campaign contents on SINTAS’s social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram).
  • Respond to posts or comments to bring value to user’s interactions with the SINTAS.
  • Research articles, stories, resources, or other contents that are relevant to our communities and posts it to SINTAS’s social media platforms in a manner that invites conversation and interaction.
  • Develops the SINTAS online social networks by increasing user base and interactions.
  • Maintain current information on our website.
  • Completes other social media projects as assigned.
  • Uses Google Analytics to assess trends and activity on the SINTAS website.
  • Reviews data on the performance of social media platforms and adjusts plans or strategies to optimize outreach.
  • Develops a social media strategy, guideline, and action plan for staff to take over work.
    Website
  • Administers the creation and publishing of relevant, original, high-quality content on The Hub website.
  • Coordinates with the Program Officer and the field teams in managing the blog page on the SINTAS’s site.
  • Creates a regular (or automatic) publishing schedule on SINTAS’s social media platforms.
  • Plans specific, timely campaigns across all platforms according to current events and trends.
  • Promotes content through social media campaigns (reviewed and changed on weekly monthly basis dependent on analytics results).
  • Manages the creative and analytics sides of campaigns and demonstrates this through results.

Awareness

  • Coordinating a diverse awareness program in conjunction with relevant partners, including design, production, and distribution of relevant materials.
  • Implementation of communication activities, events and raise awareness about SINTAS program.
  • Coordinating local and national media coverage of noteworthy events and successes related to SINTAS program.

Please note that the above TOR constitutes only the main responsibilities and duties of this position. As SINTAS is a flexible organization, staff members are expected to undertake any other tasks that are allocated to them, which are not part of their regular TOR.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

The ideal candidate will show a strong interest in gender, preferably a social media practitioner, thus no specific degree is required. S/he must be social media savvy, proactive, and have a strong desire to enhance internet presence. S/he must be comfortable working in a virtual environment.

Technical

  • Creative self-starter and comfortable with both taking initiative and working in collaboration in a virtual environment.
  • Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Social Media applications, basic photo-editing and video-editing software, and internet browsers. Experience with Photoshop and WordPress is a plus.
  • Familiar with mainstream social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

Writing

  • Has a good English literacy, preferably with a proven minimum TOEFL CBT prediction of 150 or IELTS prediction of 5.5 or equivalent.
  • Proofreading and editing skills.
  • Ability to create, compose and edit written materials.
  • Ability to write simply with a conversational style.
