Founded in 1995, the People Resources and Conservation Foundation (PRCF) is a US-based 501 (c)3 non-profit, non-governmental organization. Our mission is the conservation of biodiversity working with local communities through the wise use of natural resources that support socioeconomic development and enable nature to flourish. PRCF currently operates in several Southeast Asian countries as a federation of semi-autonomous Country Programs. The Federation’s PRCF members oversee small and high-priority projects and later become an independent, nationally registered non-governmental organization, and one of them is PRCF Indonesia, registered on October 20. 2000. To encourage professionalism in organizational management, on Wednesday, November 22, 2002, the form of organization change was determined which became Yayasan PRCF Indonesia. On May 14, 2018, a change of name was determined for the institution, becoming “Yayasan Pelestari Ragamhayati dan Cipta Fondasi Indonesia”.
AGRICULTURE OFFICER
The Agriculture Officer will ensure effective planning and design as well as successful implementation and monitoring of agricultural extension including development of livestock cultivation at the community level. Agricultural Officers will assist the community in developing sustainable agricultural models such as permaculture; agroforestry; agropasture; etc. Agriculture Officers will work from Planning, Implementation, Evaluation and Learning together with staff in other divisions, local authorities and communities to support sustainable agricultural interventions. He has a strong understanding of composting, organic pesticides, and managing soil and plants in harmony with nature. Agricultural officers must also be able to provide advice to partner communities regarding health, nutrition and feed, hygiene, breeding and animal care. During the implementation of project activities, Agricultural Officers will be required to provide feedback to relevant partners and local authorities to improve the overall quality of agricultural interventions.
QUALIFICATION
- At least bachelor’s degree/S1 (Agriculture, Forestry, Agribusiness, Biology, Chemistry; animal and crop husbandry, community development, or related fields).
- More than 2 years of experience in the agricultural field, fresh graduates are welcome.
- Understanding of organic pesticide use for treatment and prevention measures; soil management and crop and pest management; and community development programming.
- Excellent understanding of field project management including knowledge of community livelihood and community-led conservation issues.
- Strong training & facilitation skills; and can work independently but is also a strong team player
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Bahasa, and technologically literate (e.g. Design, etc)
- Self-motivated and resourceful, proven to multi-task and operate successfully under tight deadlines and time pressures.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, leadership, and teamwork.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work with farmers and communities on land preparation (community gardens, nurseries, household gardens, compost, yields management, pest management, etc);
- Implementing sustainable agricultural models such as permaculture; Agroforestry;
- Agropasture; application of agriculture and natural fertilizers and pesticides; etc.
- Carrying out practical training and refresher training to communities and farmers through field school.
- Carrying out practical training and refresher training to communities and farmers;
- Develop modules/guidebooks on sustainable agriculture for community members to use in local languages;
- Help to identify new methods of planting, fertilizing, harvesting, and storing crops to achieve optimal land use and yields;
- Identify microorganisms and insects, parasites, and weeds that are harmful to plants and provide advice on control measures;
- Examine topographic, physical, and soil characteristics to determine the most effective crop yield potential;
- Providing technical support regarding emerging issues and matters of concern in the fields of agriculture to post-harvest management;
- Provide support on all demonstration plot initiatives from idea to implementation to evaluation, such as keyhole gardens, backyard gardens, etc.;
