Food for the Hungry Indonesia is an independent non-governmental organization based in Medan, North Sumatra and operates in North Sumatra Province and the Mentawai Islands, West Sumatra Province. Food for the Hungry Indonesia started working in Indonesia after the December 2004 tsunami killed 283,000 people. Food for the Hungry Indonesia worked with devastated communities to help them rebuild their lives and homes. In 2011, Food for the Hungry Indonesia began a long-term development work and currently we are working to address all forms of human poverty, visible and invisible through livelihood, education, health and DRR sectors. Our purpose is graduating communities from extreme poverty.

Knowledge Management Officer (KMO)
1 position
Location: Medan
Purpose of position:
FH Indonesia is embracing a new program model that centres on a systems approach, human-centered design, non-linearity, and measuring social return on investment (SROI), all grounded in a Biblical Worldview. This innovative model demands continuous learning and adaptation to thrive.
The MERL Unit, acting as the cornerstone for accountability and organizational learning, requires a dedicated Knowledge Management Officer. This role is critical for capturing, organizing, and disseminating knowledge to maximize the impact of our program interventions and underpin evidence-based decision-making. Starting in FY26, the expanded use of application-based systems for data collection and reporting will yield a significant increase in data and insights. The Knowledge Management Officer will be essential in effectively managing this influx as a valuable knowledge asset, ensuring that lessons from every program are identified, documented, and shared effectively.
The primary purpose of this position is to develop and implement robust knowledge management strategies and processes within the MERL Unit and across all of FH Indonesia. This ensures that all MERL lessons, best practices, and data are systematically identified, captured, stored, disseminated, and ultimately used to drive organizational learning, foster program innovation, and enhance our overall impact. This position reports directly to the MERL Manager.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in information science, Communications, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of the development project cycle and the principles of Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL).
- Experience in designing and managing information systems/knowledge repositories.
- At least 1 year of experience in a knowledge management role, development communication, or a similar position, preferably within a non-profit or development organization.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize complex information into easily understandable formats. - Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
- Creative, proactive, and possessing excellent organizational abilities.
- Able to work independently and in multicultural teams.
- Familiarity with a Biblical Worldview and the values of FH Indonesia will be a strong asset.
- Proficiency in Ms. Office Suite; familiarity with digital collaboration tools (e.g., SharePoint, Google Workspace) and simple graphic design tools is a plus.
System-Based Officer (SBO)
1 position
Location: Medan
Purpose of position:
- The System-Based Officer for the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) Unit plays a crucial role in optimizing data management within FH Indonesia. This position is responsible for inputting achievement data into the MERL system and efficiently managing existing data.
- Acting as the vital link between MERL’s detailed needs and technological capabilities, the System-Based Officer will lead the implementation and utilization of digital MERL applications and systems. Their work will ensure accurate, timely, and easily accessible data, which is essential for robust reporting, insightful analysis, and informed decision-making. Beyond internal processes, this role will also provide valuable recommendations for FH Indonesia’s programs and contribute input to global MERL systems where relevant to the Indonesian context.
This position is reported directly to the MERL Manager.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in business administration, Communications, Social Minimum of a D-3 (associate’s degree) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or other related fields (preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience in data management, database administration, or system support, preferably within a MERL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning) or development/social sector context.
- Strong understanding of Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) principles.
- Proficiency in using database management applications (e.g., Excel, MS Access, or similar data management platforms).
- Familiarity with digital data collection software or other MERL platforms (e.g., ODK/Kobo).
- Basic data analysis skills and an understanding of performance indicators.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Experience managing sponsorship products will be an advantage.
- Experience working with FH will be an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, proactive, and detail oriented.
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Understanding of community development contexts and a Biblical Worldview will be a plus.
