Clean Air Asia is an international non-governmental organization leading the regional mission for better air quality, and healthier, more livable cities throughout Asia. Our work focuses on implementing solutions that reduce air pollution, its detrimental health impacts and mitigate the climate crisis. We do so by providing policy guidance, building capacity, and making a compelling case for action among stakeholders at city, national, and regional levels. Since 2008, we have been a United Nations-recognized partnership comprised of more than 250 organizations in Asia and internationally, with six Country Networks (Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam). Our headquarters are in Manila, Philippines, and we have offices in Beijing, China, and New Delhi, India.
Clean Air Asia is expanding its portfolio on clean air and climate change in Indonesia. Under the Clean Air Asia Indonesia office, our portfolio includes promoting clean air action plans, providing research to formulate evidence-based policies, and implementing solutions to achieve clean air in cities.
We are currently recruiting for an Air Quality and Climate Lead on a fixed-term contract to join our dynamic team at Clean Air Asia in Jakarta, Indonesia. We are looking for someone who has experience in conducting air pollution emission inventories, emission modelling, air quality data analysis, data gathering and crunching and is familiar with working with Indonesia government officials, as well as being a good team player.
JOB PURPOSE
To provide technical assistance and support to project implementation, management, and stakeholder engagement, as well as deliver outputs in accordance with Clean Air Asia’s standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE OF WORK
Under the direct supervision of the Indonesia Director, the primary duties of the Air Quality and Climate Lead will include:
- Provide support in program development and management of air quality and climate portfolio under Indonesia office.
- Lead project management and implementation for air quality and climate portfolio. The leadership role also includes research projects.
- Lead the coordination and engagement with respective city governments, national government and other collaborators in implementing the projects under air quality and climate.
- Develop project reports with respect to project deliverables.
- Perform other roles and tasks in relation to projects.
- Support the implementation of other projects under Clean Air Asia’s Policy, Research, and Outreach Program as assigned by the Indonesia Director.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS AND CRITERIA
- A minimum of five years’ experience in conducting and lead air quality and climate-related projects.
- An advanced degree in Environment Engineering or a related field
- Experience in project management is an advantage.
- Advanced knowledge and skills in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis and modelling tools (e.g. LEAP-IBC, GAINS, etc).
- Fluent in spoken and written English; with strong written, analytical, presentation, and reporting skills.
- Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to do research, analysis and present data.
- Demonstrated attention to detail.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team.
- Team player with the ability to contribute more widely to the direction of Clean Air Asia’s program.
- Experience working in different local governments in Indonesia is an advantage.
DURATION, REMUNERATION and OTHER BENEFITS
The selected candidate will be appointed from August 2024 for 12 months under a full-time consultancy contract, with the possibility of an extension based on funding and satisfactory performance. The remuneration is competitive but may vary subject to the candidate’s professional qualifications and work experience.
