BETTER WORK INDONESIA JOB VACANCIES 2024
Sustainability Advisor Consultant
Under Individual Consultant Agreement
at the maximum for 3 months
Background
Better Work Indonesia is part of the Better Work global programme, which is a unique partnership between the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). Better Work aims to improve working conditions through compliance assessment and social dialogue between workers and employers.
Better Work Indonesia, which became operational in July 2011, was initially designed with a sustainable approach that would allow the programme to continue independent operations after an initial period without donor funding. Hence, in 2016, Yayasan Kemitraan Kerja (YKK) was established to continue the impact of the programme in Indonesia.
Yayasan Kemitraan Kerja is expected to be financially sustainable in the factory engagement activities as expected by the Better Work programme. In addition, the foundation needs to explore other fundraising opportunities, including establishing a business unit that aligns with the Articles of Association and national regulations.
Objective
The primary objective of the Sustainability Advisor Consultant is to ensure the programme’s long-term financial viability by developing, implementing, and managing strategies to secure and diversify funding sources and optimise financial resources.
Scope of Work
The Sustainability Advisor Consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:

- To study the willingness to pay of BW’s existing clients. Possibility to increase the price considering clients’ capacity and market price.
- To review the value of factory engagement and what possible activity models will be accepted by existing clients at their capacity to pay. Use value-based pricing methodology.
- Develop other possible business model which includes comprehensive financial sustainability strategy for the factory engagement activities and revenue generation from buyers. This will involve discussions with the Better Work Global team to explore opportunities for increasing revenue from buyers.
- Coordinate with Better Work Global to obtain detailed insights into their current, and if possible, explore future pricing plan. This should include an understanding of the rationale behind their pricing models, the factors influencing price adjustments, revenue allocation, and how these strategies align with the broader objectives of the Better Work program.
Fundraising and Resource Mobilization:
- Identify, research, and pursue funding opportunities from various sources including donors, grants, partnerships, and income-generating activities.
- Develop and nurture relationships with current and potential funders, laying the groundwork for future relationships to be maintained by the foundation.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Engage with stakeholders, including donors, partners, private sector, and community members, to promote financial support for the foundation for BW’s factory engagement activities and non-BW’s activities.
- Initiate the financial discussions and negotiations with stakeholders, with the foundation continuing and following up as necessary.
