As we are constantly expanding, we are currently hiring to fill the following position for our office in Jakarta:

Communications Senior Officer (Code: CSO)

Konservasi Indonesia is a national foundation to support the sustainable development and protection of critical ecosystems in Indonesia. We are the main partner of Conservation International in Indonesia. We believe in the importance of multi-stakeholder partnerships across sectors and jurisdictions. Working in partnership with the government and others, we design and deliver innovative nature-based solutions to climate change, using a sustainable landscapes-seascapes approach to create lasting impacts for people and nature.

Konservasi Indonesia is developing the design of Communications strategy that is a basic need of organization to implementing communication work. In the future, this strategy will serve as a guidance, as well as an evaluation tool, to ensure the effectiveness of communication carried out by the organization. Finishing the event and media engagement strategy immediately and used-appropriately, it will need an event and media engagement coordinator who will be responsible to developing, ensuring, and coordinating the implementation of the Konservasi Indonesia’s event and media engagement strategy.

The Communication Senior Officer will support and lead communication efforts to increase Konservasi Indonesia’s visibility and public engagement. This role focuses on media relations, content creation, and strategic messaging, working closely with national and regional teams. The ideal candidate has experience in the media industry, a strong interest in environmental issues, and a well-established network of media contacts. This position will be working closely with the Communications Manager, national communications team, and program team in developing content for external communications, as well as working with HR and Operations for internal communications (as necessary).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Media Relations and Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with international, national, and local media.
  • Pitch stories, arrange interviews, and coordinate press events.
  • Write press releases, and media kits.
  • Monitor media coverage and produce regular media reports.
  • Support crisis communications and act as a media contact when needed.

Content Creation and Communication Support

  • Support in developing ideas for content for media, websites, social media, and internal use.
  • Ensure all communication materials follow KI’s brand and messaging guidelines.
  • Help identify and tell compelling stories about conservation work and impact.

Strategic Communication and Coordination

  • Support the implementation of communication strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Work closely with program teams to translate technical content into public-friendly language.
  • Provide input and support for campaigns, events, and advocacy efforts.

Internal Coordination and Mentorship

  • Work with and support team members of Communications team.
  • Collaborate with operations, HR, and field teams to improve internal and external communications.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the knowledge management process in communication and program,
  • Ensure compliance with Konservasi Indonesia’s brand guide and communications protocol,
  • Ensure compliance with Konservasi Indonesia’s procurement policies,
  • Travelling to field sites as required to support the production of visual communications materials, including video, etc., as necessary,
  • Travelling to field sites as required to support the implementation of event and media engagement strategy.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in media, journalism, or communications.
  • Strong writing and editing skills in both Bahasa Indonesia and English.
  • Good understanding of environmental or conservation issues.
  • Experience building and maintaining media networks.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong experience in facilitating press conference, workshop, discussion and FGD, etc.,
  • Outstanding vendor management skills,
  • Team player, able to work with people with different cultures and backgrounds,
  • Advanced in speaking and writing English.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is performed in a typical office environment with travelling to field sites as required.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal work hours to meet deadlines as needed.
