What We Can Achieve Together:
Together with YKAN, The Community Development Manager directs some or all aspects of protection, science, stewardship and community relations for a geographic area within program, the development of key partnerships with indigenous and local communities through collaboration and coordination with various conservation staff, governments, private companies, other conservation organizations, research institutes and universities

Are you passionate about being a part of group of dedicated employees who are united by our mission to preserve the lands and waters on which all life depends? As a Community Development Manager plays a key role in establishing YKAN as a major conservation partner in East and North Kalimantan, defining long-term priorities and strategies. They build SIGAP’s strategic, develop partnerships with government and private sectors, and address technical issues in conservation. Their responsibilities include engaging communities, negotiating solutions with various stakeholders, and implementing conservation strategies. They also lead programs focused on social development, community empowerment, and the protection of natural resources, ensuring alignment with local needs and best practices.
The Community Development Manager will be based in Berau or Samarinda, East Kalimantan and report to Community Senior Manager.

What You’ll Bring:
- BA/BS degree) and 5 years’ experience in natural resource management in relevant fields (e.g., agriculture, economic, forestry) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience managing complex or multiple projects, including staffing, workloads and finances under deadlines.
- Supervisory experience, including motivating, leading, setting objectives and managing performance.
- Experience in partnership development with non-profit partners, community groups and/or government agencies.
- Experience negotiating.
- Experience communicating with the public and/or media both in writing and verbally.
- Experience using applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Web Browsers.
- Experience with principles of land acquisition.
- Experience in training and curriculum design.
- Fluency in English, oral and written.
