National Government Partnership Specialist

Background

The five-year, USAID SELARAS activity will address the limiting conditions for better solid waste management services in areas where USG investments can significantly reduce ocean plastic pollution while also partnering with private sector enterprises to scale interventions. Achieving this mutual goal will require a diverse approach to:

  • strengthen solid waste sector governance and financing;
  • improve and expand solid waste management services;
  • strengthen local markets and businesses;
  • improve social behaviors and practices; and
  • improve systems for tracking and reducing methane emissions.

USAID SELARAS will work at the national, provincial, and local levels of government. Partnering with key institutions and stakeholders, the Activity will provide timely, relevant, and foundational support to enable the GOI to make progress towards its development objectives of having 100 percent of solid waste managed by 2024 and reduction of marine plastic pollution by 70 percent by 2025.

USAID Selaras is looking for an excellent person based in Jakarta (BAPPENAS) to fill the position of National Government Partnership Specialist

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum a bachelor’s degree (S1) in a relevant field such as environmental engineering, urban planning, or other development studies
  • At least five (5) years of experience in working in the SWM sector, will be preferred.
  • Experience working with Bappenas and relevant Ministries to support SWM or similar programs, especially in coordination mechanisms internal Bappenas and external among the relevant ministries.
  • Possesses good writing and personal communication skills to lead the coordination among relevant ministries and other projects implemented by other donors.
  • Possesses good verbal and written communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
  • Flexibility to travel within project locations in Indonesia when required.
