Background

As part of the drive to increase the visibility of The Habibie Center (THC), THC is strengthening its Communications Team. A Communication & Design Officer will be part of this team and will primarily provide both technical and administrative support to the team.

The Communication & Design Officer will develop and maintain The Habibie Center’s digital media reach and performance, including managing publications, documentation, and other public relations activities while also assisting with general administrative duties.

Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Finance & Administration, Director Program & Research, and under the overall supervision of the Executive Director, a Communications & Design Officer will:

  • Develop visual communication strategies aligned with THC’s mission, including designing the layout of research reports, flyers and infographics, creating social media campaigns, and producing other design materials such as backdrops, slides and overlays;
  • Creating contents for social media platforms;
  • Manage internal and external program documentation and publications;
  • Develop and maintain internal and external communication channels, managing website content, emails and newsletters, and handle promotional posts through social media advertising;
  • Evaluate written text for grammatical and typographical errors in campaign materials and conduct quality control for printing with the appointed printing company;
  • Manage the archive of photos and videos for the organization and perform basic video editing when necessary;
  • Assist in organizing events and collaborate with the IT team to ensure the success of online activities, such as live streaming webinars.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Graphic Design, Communications, Public Relations or other related disciplines with relevant experience;
  • Proficiency with industry-standard design software including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator;
  • Excellent composition and visual design skills, deep understanding of typography principles;
  • Experience in updating websites, designing publication materials and organizing events;
  • Knowledge and experience with general video editing skills;
  • Computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Excellent working knowledge of written and spoken English and Indonesian;
  • Strong attention to detail, meticulous and knowledgeable in the proper use of the Indonesian language as per KBBI;
  • Organizational and time-management skills for meeting deadline in a fast-paced environment;
  • Quick learner with the ability to adapt easily to the work environment;
  • Experience in working on democracy and human rights issues is a plus.
