The role

The Research Analyst (RA) will provide the analytical foundation for Prospera’s works in addressing the analytic needs of our GOI counterparts and responding to new and emerging policy issues, and framing financial policy issues. The RA will undertake research and data analysis related to governance and policy issues in the financial sector, especially capital market and non-banking financial institutions. The RA is expected to support preparation of papers and presentation materials, as well as coordinate and present analysis of financial and macroeconomic policy issues assigned to Financial Policy Team.

About you

The ideal candidate will possess strong qualifications and experience as follows:

  • Tertiary qualifications in economics and/or a related discipline are essential, with post-graduate qualifications preferred. Strong quantitative skills will be essential.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ professional experience working on economic policy and related economic and/or financial sector issues.
  • Ability to conduct research and analysis on difficult, but well-defined tasks; articulate issues and recommend solutions.
  • Knowledge and experience working on the Indonesian economy and with Indonesian policymakers.
  • Computing proficiency in one or more statistical and data management software such as R, Stata, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent written communication skills with fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English (both written and oral), including advocacy and presentation skills.

  • Proven ability to work independently and to take the initiative to progress deliverables.

About the program

Prospera is a A$3004 million eight-year programme building on two decades of Australia’s support for economic governance in Indonesia. Prospera incorporates 15 Australian Government agencies and over 200 expert advisers and programme staff from diverse backgrounds. Prospera also collaborates closely with the Katalis programme to realise the benefits of the Indonesia-Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement.

Prospera’s goal is to contribute to strong, sustainable, and inclusive economic growth in Indonesia through three breakthrough outcomes:

  • Expanding markets creating jobs: Building a robust private sector that creates more high value jobs.
  • Safeguarding economic and financial stability: Ensuring a strong foundation for sustainable and inclusive growth.
  • Improving public finances and government performance: Enabling a modern, effective and responsible public sector.

Underpinning these breakthrough areas are three enablers: capable and coordinated institutions that support Indonesia’s development transition; gender equality and disability inclusion are advanced; and government of Indonesia and Australia partnerships strengthen.

Prospera commenced in March 2018 and will conclude in February 2026.

Remuneration

The remuneration will be set according to National Remuneration Framework Group C, Job Level 1. The remuneration level at which the position is engaged will be based on the successful candidates’ relevant skills and experience and will be subject to Indonesian employment regulations and tax obligations. This position is a long-term position, open for National Indonesian applicants.
