Project HOPE has been known in Indonesia since 1960 when the hospital ship USS HOPE visited Indonesia as part of its visit to several countries for humanitarian operations. Since 12 March 2018 Project HOPE has been registered as Yayasan Project HOPE in Indonesia. Yayasan Project HOPE (YPH) manages several programs in the areas of Infection Diseases, Tuberculosis Laboratory Strengthening, Maternal Neonatal Health, COVID-19 Emergency Response and Mental Health. It is also establishing an emergency response hub to strengthen emergency response operating systems in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.Program Overview
The Maternal and Neonatal Health (MNH) Program aims to enhance the health and well-being of mothers and their newborns in underserved communities. This program seeks to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality rates by providing comprehensive healthcare services, education, and support to pregnant women and new mothers. Currently, YPH is implementing programs under the MNH program: Expanding Saving Lives at Birth (ESLAB) funded by Project HOPE – G2A grants and the Safe Hands funded by Project HOPE – MSD for Mothers grants.
Position Summary
The Program Coordinator will oversee day-to-day operations, including planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating activities aimed at strengthening the quality and availability of routine and emergency maternity care on Lombok Island. This role supports healthcare facilities and health workers in providing effective obstetric and newborn emergency responses, utilizing tools like the Safe Delivery application, and coordinating with health stakeholders, including District and Provincial Health Offices, professional health associations, and community-based organizations. S/he will ensure project interventions align with established health practices and contribute to reducing maternal and neonatal mortality rates. S/he will report regularly to the Program Manager, seek approval for program-related decisions, and collaborate with other Program Coordinators in MNH initiatives.
