Resource Mobilization & External Relations Director

The Opportunity
This is a senior leadership role with real scale and influence.
As Resource Mobilization & External Relations Director, you will lead the organisation’s fundraising growth, brand positioning, and external engagement strategy, while shaping how Plan Indonesia is seen, trusted, and supported by donors, partners, media, and the public.
You will:
- Lead and inspire a large, diverse team of 50+ professionals
- Drive ambitious fundraising targets across multiple channels
- Champion innovation, performance, and people development
- Sit on the Country Leadership Team (CLT) and act as a strategic partner to the Executive Director
- Support the growth of PT Kanaga Impact Indonesia, Plan Indonesia’s social enterprise

What You Will Lead
Resource Mobilization Strategy & Financial Sustainability
- Design and deliver a bold, diversified resource mobilization strategy aligned with Plan Indonesia’s long-term sustainability goals.
- Set and drive fundraising targets across portfolios and channels.
- Lead ROI analysis and investment decisions, including those related to PT Kanaga Impact Indonesia.
- Work closely with the CLT to shape organisational investment priorities.
Brand, Reputation & External Positioning
- Strengthen Plan Indonesia’s brand visibility, credibility, and relevance across media, digital platforms, and public discourse.
- Shape compelling narratives on girls’ rights, equality, and development impact.
- Build and maintain high-level relationships with media leaders, journalists, influencers, public figures, corporates, and partners.
- Ensure strong alignment between communications, campaigns, advocacy, and fundraising to maximise collective impact.
Leadership of a High-Performing, People-Centred Team
- Lead, coach, and inspire a large, multi-disciplinary team (30+ staff).
- Translate targets into clear performance plans and monitor progress rigorously.
- Build future leaders through capacity development, coaching, and succession planning.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and well-being.
Strategic Leadership & Governance
- Actively contribute to the Country Leadership Team (CLT) and organisational decision-making.
- Support the Executive Director in governance, board reporting, and external representation.
- Represent Plan Indonesia within the global Plan International network.
- Act as Deputy to the Executive Director when required.
- Serve as a role model for Plan Indonesia’s values, ethics, and inclusive culture.
Safeguarding, GEDSI & PSHEA Leadership
- Ensure safeguarding, GEDSI, and PSHEA principles are fully embedded across the department.
- Champion a safe, inclusive, and accountable environment for staff, partners, and program participants.
Who We’re Looking For
Experience & Knowledge
- Master’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, or related fields.
- Minimum 5 years of senior management experience in fundraising, marketing, communications, or related functions.
- Proven success in driving income growth, brand positioning, and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong understanding of donor trends, funding landscapes, and investment strategies.
- Demonstrated leadership marked by integrity, transparency, and accountability.
- Willingness to travel up to 90 days per year, including short-notice travel.

Desirable
- Experience in communications, media, or journalism
- Excellent writing and editing skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English
- Strong understanding of children’s rights, safeguarding, and human rights principles
