Founded in 1995, People Resources and Conservation Foundation (PRCF) is a US-based 501 (c)3 non-profit, non-governmental organization. Our mission is the conservation of biodiversity working with local communities through the wise use of natural resources that support socioeconomic development and enable nature to flourish. PRCF currently operates in several countries in Southeast Asia as a federation of semi-autonomous Country Programs. The Federation’s PRCF members oversee small and high-priority projects and later become an independent, nationally registered non-governmental organization. One of them is Yayasan Pelestari Ragamhayati dan Cipta Fondasi Indonesia (PRCF Indonesia).

Biodiversity Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating biodiversity conservation efforts in PRCF Indonesia Sumatra Program working area with a focus on strategic planning, data collection, and analysis, database management, program monitoring, integration of biodiversity content in environmental communication and education, as well as participation in preparation of a strategic plan for PRCF Indonesia’s biodiversity conservation
efforts.

As we are constantly expanding, we are currently hiring to fill the following positions for our office in North Sumatra:

BIODIVERSITY COORDINATOR

Under direction of Sumatra Program Coordinator, coordinate the planning of PRCF Indonesia’s biodiversity conservation strategies for the Sumatra Program, especially the North Sumatra working area. Coordinating field data collection and analysis of biodiversity data for the Sumatra Program, especially in North Sumatra. Develop and manage the Sumatra program’s biodiversity database. Coordinate High Conservation Value Forest (HCVF) assessments Strengthen public awareness efforts regarding biodiversity conservation Trains the partners and field team in operating monitoring tools and biodiversity data collections. Monitor the achievements of the Sumatra program for the biodiversity component, by PRCF Indonesia Monitoring and Evaluation framework. Deliver regular reports on the intended achievements.

Establish and maintain cooperation with stakeholders and other partners in the context of efforts to conserve biodiversity in the Sumatra area. Collaborate with the communications and community outreach team to integrate biodiversity content into environmental communication and education materials for the Sumatra program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • At least a master’s degree (biology, forestry, natural resource management-related science).
  • More than 4 years’ experience in NGOs, preferably experience in research, conservation biodiversity, and experience as a coordinator or relevant position.
  • Strong competencies in conservation and a good understanding of national policies related to biodiversity conservation.
  • Ability to work under general supervision and take initiative to solve problems under the supervisor’s direction.
  • Solid attention to detail and strong research and proofreading.
  • Have experience in identifying protected and endangered plants and animals.
  • Have experience engaging with government agencies in the forestry and environmental sectors.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Bahasa.
