Kota Kita is expanding, and we seek dedicated, detail-oriented, and proactive individuals to join our team!

We seek those passionate about making a difference in cities by ensuring efficient and sustainable urban management. As we grow, we seek a Finance, Procurement, and Taxation Support Officer to help ensure the financial soundness of our projects and the smooth operation of our procurement and taxation processes. This role will be instrumental in building more inclusive, equitable, and climate-resilient cities.

About Kota Kita

Kota Kita is a dynamic, non-profit organization based in Surakarta, Central Java, Indonesia, specializing in urban planning and citizen participation. Our mission is to bridge the gap between citizens and governments to develop a shared vision for the future of our cities. Through citizen participation, we influence urban policies, encourage open access to information, and provide civic education to empower active urban citizens.

Our work addresses critical challenges such as governance, inclusivity, and climate resilience in cities across Indonesia. With an interdisciplinary team and a design-driven approach, we have successfully collaborated on projects ranging from small-scale urban interventions and city-wide assessments to large-scale strategic planning. For nearly a decade, we have worked in over 20 cities and have established platforms for new voices to engage in city-making, notably through the annual Urban Social Forum. This unique civil society-led event brings together practitioners, civil servants, and students to shape the future of our cities.

Background

Kota Kita’s programs are primarily funded through partnerships with international donors, government agencies, and the private sector. Though varied in scope and duration, these projects share a common goal: fostering urban development that prioritizes the needs and rights of marginalized and vulnerable populations.

As Kota Kita expands, so do the complexities of managing multiple projects with diverse budgets, timelines, and reporting requirements. This growth demands a more robust and efficient financial management system, alongside vital procurement support, to maintain the seamless operation of our daily activities.

The Finance Controller and Procurement Support Officer role ensures that our financial and procurement practices remain transparent, accountable, and aligned with local regulations and donor expectations. The position will also strengthen tax compliance, mitigating risks associated with financial management and procurement processes. By filling this position, we will improve our capacity to manage resources effectively, enabling us to continue positively impacting urban communities across Indonesia.
