POSITION IDENTIFICATIONS

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Research Analyst shall assist the Manager and Senior Research Analyst in handling data gathering and processing, energy modelling and policy planning research, and related activities of the MPP Department in light of the priorities of the APAEC 2026-2030, in particular: PA 6 Regional Energy Policy and Planning (REPP).

Under the supervision of the Manager and designated Senior Officer(s), the Research Analyst will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Support the development and implementation of the APAEC Annual Milestones, particularly on PA 6 REPP, but also on other related Programme Areas.
  • Identify the source of energy data to be used in ACE studies and analyses, understand the context of the data, and ensure that they are relevant and appropriately utilised.
  • Perform data processing, analysis, visualisation, and quality checks, focusing on extracting insights to support research activities.
  • Support in developing efficient, effective, and replicable methods for data analysis and visualisation, organising data sources, and managing data quality, including through strong coordination with all departments of ACE.
  • Advance ASEAN Energy Database Information System (AEDS) through regular updates, also supporting its ongoing revamp process.
  • Support energy research, modelling, and policy planning activities of MPP, including through drafting technical reports, policy briefs, insights, and slide decks.
  • Assist several activities of ACE, including but not limited to: event organisation, stakeholder consultation, materials preparation, and promotion of ACE products and activities.
  • Carry out other tasks that may be assigned by the Manager or Executive Director.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in statistics, science, engineering, computer science, economics, energy policy and planning, or another appropriate specialist discipline.
  • At least three (3) years’ relevant professional experience in the field of energy, policy planning, engineering, statistics, or modelling.
  • Excellent computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite, with emphasis on MS Excel for data processing and statistical analysis.
  • Capable of data processing and analysis using relevant software and statistical methods, such as R and Python.
  • Experience with energy modelling software (e.g., LEAP/NEMO, EnergyPlus, MESSAGE, PLEXOS), including scripting with Python or other languages.
  • Capable of developing engaging data visualisation, with experience in related tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
  • Strong understanding of the latest energy transition and sustainability issues. Possess analytic skills to better understand complex information in a systematic way.
  • Any other energy- or data-related software skill, including experience in collaborative data processing or modelling work, is a plus.
  • Experience working in regional set up, ASEAN institution, or think-tank/research organisation is a plus.

REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS

The successful candidate will be stationed in Jakarta, Indonesia and offered up to a 3 year contract, with a probationary period of three (3) months The contract will be extended and evaluated on annual basis the by the Executive Director depending on performance and fund availability.

The monthly salary ranged from USD 805 – USD 1,932. The salary shall be commensurate with the educational qualification and experience of the candidate. All other applicable benefits (communication allowance, transport allowance, health and life insurance, etc.) shall be subject to the ACE consolidated rules and regulations.

The successful candidate is expected to be on board Immediately.
