ATSEA JOB VACANCIES 2026
National Service Company for ALDFG Circular Economy Feasibility Study
The Arafura and Timor Seas Ecosystem Action (ATSEA) Program is seeking a qualified national service company or consulting firm to conduct a feasibility study for developing a circular economy scheme for Abandoned, Lost or Otherwise Discarded Fishing Gear (ALDFG) and End-of-Life Fishing Gear (EOLFG) Management in Merauke, South Papua, Indonesia.
The assignment will assess the feasibility of establishing a circular economy scheme for used and damaged fishing gear, including collection and storage systems, market opportunities, buy-back mechanisms, and environmentally sound reuse, recycling, and disposal options. The study will provide practical recommendations to support the design of a future pilot initiative in Merauke.
Working closely with the ATSEA Interim Regional Secretariat and relevant national and local stakeholders, the selected service company will conduct field assessments, engage fishing communities and government agencies, analyse value chains and business models, and develop recommendations for a locally appropriate ALDFG/EOLFG management scheme.
