Yayasan Cita Wadah Swadaya (YCWS) – is a non-profit faith-based organization working in the sector of social & humanitarian, registered in the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (MoLHR) in August 2024. YCWS assists the most vulnerable people, regardless of their religion, race, ethnicity, or gender.
YCWS vision is the world where everyone has food, voice and a safe place to call home, encapsulated in the name, which stands for YAYASAN (Foundation), CITA (A just, dignified, and prosperous society), WADAH (Collaborative forums and networks), SWADAYA (Self-sufficiency and empowerment). YCWS believes that through collaboration across various sectors and with regional partners, it can contribute to building a more equitable society for all people.
YCWS mission is to transform community through just and sustainable responses to hunger, poverty, refuge and disaster that address the needs of the most vulnerable people by focusing on core program areas such as Refugee Protection and Assistance, Disaster Preparedness and Response, and Climate Resilience. These programs aim to foster sustainable change and collaborate with communities to build resilience and self-sufficiency.
THE ROLE:
The Program Officer – Humanitarian Preparedness and Resilience manage and supports all emergency preparedness, response, disaster risk reduction, and climate change adaptation initiatives across YCWS Indonesia. The officer is responsible for regularly updating the YCWS Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan (EPRP) and building a capable emergency response team. S/he provides essential technical expertise to the program unit for activity implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and advocacy. Additionally, the officer maintains vital external coordination by liaising closely with national and provincial BNPB personnel alongside other key disaster and climate actors.
The position demands strong managerial, administrative, and documentation skills to strengthen the operational capacity of local implementing partners. Candidates must be willing to travel regularly for project monitoring and demonstrate the flexibility required to collaborate successfully with local counterparts.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in disaster management, development studies, social sciences, environmental studies, international relations, or other relevant fields.
- Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience in humanitarian response, DRR, climate resilience, or related programming
- Demonstrate a good understanding of Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS).
- Flexible and willing to travel and work additional hours to ensure that the required results are delivered.
- Familiarity with key development issues and current affairs especially in relation to resilience building Indonesia.
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of multidisciplinary and multicultural team.
- Strong coordination skills, specifically the ability to effectively coordinate with local partners and among internal team members (technical, finance, management).
- Strong training, coaching, and mentoring skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and analytical skills.
- Ability to present concise reports, reflecting the problems and possible solutions.
- Excellent command of English language.
- Ability to prioritize and commitment to meet deadlines.
- Having skill and experience to strengthen partner’s capacity is preferable.
- Having experience in any of YCWS program areas, i.e.: disaster management, refugee protection, and food security, is preferable.
- Possess experience in advocacy, campaign, lobbying and/or network building is desirable.
- Strong diplomatic communication skill is desirable.
