BBC Media Action uses media and communications to help people take control of their lives and make informed decisions. We do this through our focus on health, governance and rights, resilience and humanitarian response, partnering with civil society, local media and governments to produce creative programmes in multi-media formats which inform and engage audiences strengthen the media sector through building professional capacity and infrastructure.

BBC Media Action in Indonesia is implementing two media development projects funded by the UK and EU governments to support the media sector in Indonesia. These multi-year programmes aim to strengthen and support open, accountable, and diverse media and information ecosystems in Indonesia, strengthen editorial and technical skills of local media partners in the country, address challenges and building on opportunities at the audience, practitioner, organisational and systems levels. The projects are global projects with several other BBC Media Action country offices participating and will require extensive work with both local media partners, donor partners, in Indonesia and BBC Media Action central project, finance and research teams.

BBC Media Action is currently seeking: Project Support Freelancer

October 2025 – February 2027, with possibility of extension

Job Purpose of Freelancer

The need for a Project Support freelancer is to support the Project Manager in the implementation of the project’s current needs. The Project Support freelancer’s required tasks in coordination, facilitation, administration, and reporting. The freelancer will be reporting to the Project Manager.

Main Tasks of freelancer:

  • Providing support in setting timeline, planning and completing supporting documents for reporting
  • Coordinating with local partners for events and training, and its compliance to each of donors requirements
  • Managing logistic requirement and completing all supporting documents
  • Scheduling meetings and recording the minutes
  • Coordinating with internal team for effective project management
  • Providing support on documentation and filing
  • Translating project/training documents from English to Indonesia (vice versa) 

Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area
  • Have a good critical thinking and can work multitasking
  • Experience in project planning, management, and knowledge management
  • Have in depth understanding related to the dynamic in working with local communities and government in Indonesia
  • Advance English language and Bahasa Indonesia skills, both in written and oral.
  • Ability to work in timely manner and organized
  • Knowledge on communication and information ecosystem in Indonesia is a bonus

Additional Requirement:

Due to the possibility of the freelancers’ interaction with vulnerable children and adults, police background check will be part of the screening process

Work Arrangement:

3 days per week (@ 8 hours)

Will be registered for accidental insurance during the work period

Payment will be made by each of end month with supporting docs (invoice and timesheet)
