Founded in 1995, the People Resources and Conservation Foundation (PRCF) is a US-based 501 (c)3 non-profit, non-governmental organization. Our mission is the conservation of biodiversity working with local communities through the wise use of natural resources that support socioeconomic development and enable nature to flourish. PRCF currently operates in several countries in Southeast Asia as a federation of semi-autonomous Country Programs.

The Federation’s PRCF members oversee small and high-priority projects and later become an independent, nationally registered non-governmental organization. One of them is Yayasan Pelestari Ragamhayati dan Cipta Fondasi Indonesia (PRCF Indonesia).

Field Coordination Officer is an integral part of the PRCF Indonesia team who will support ongoing program conservation activities in the field, coordinating field activities inclusive of field staff. The FCO will meet conservation- and community development-oriented needs as they arise, while also generally acting as a focal point for biodiversity conservation and livelihood support work in the field, representing the project to local stakeholders level. The FCO will be the focal point for the implementation of field activities in the Batang Toru Forest Landscape through managing and coordinating the field team as well as aiding with strategic and technical input.

As we are constantly expanding, we are currently hiring to fill the following positions for our office in North Sumatra:

FIELD COORDINATION OFFICER

  • At least bachelor’s degree/S1 (Forestry, Biology, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Science, and related science.
  • More than 4 years experience, preferably experience in social forestry, community development, and experience working in a similar position or role with conservation NGOs.
  • Have strong knowledge and experience in project management related to forest and biodiversity conservation, and protected area management.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English and Bahasa, and technologically literate (e.g. GIS Software).
  • Excellent understanding of field project management including knowledge of community livelihood and community-led conservation issues.
  • Have experience engaging with government agencies in the forestry and environmental sectors.
  • Self-motivated and resourceful, with the proven ability to multi-task and operate successfully under tight deadlines and time pressures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, leadership, and teamwork.

Qualification:

  • Providing management support for planning, implementing, monitoring, and reporting on the forest and conservation program in East Block (Batang Toru Forest Ecosystem).
  • Ensure the development and implementation of the project with concrete targets, and lessons learned framework, including monitoring ongoing operations support in the field sites.
  • Oversee and work with the field staff to ensure high-quality implementation including the development of the project documentation and reporting, and review of field staff reports, and publications, in a timely manner.
  • In close coordination with the Sumatra Program Coordinator and related staff to support the development of program implementation strategies in the East Block (BTFE), including exploring the potential integration approach or leverage of best practices in BTFE.
  • Provide support in the preparation of reports and assist in preparing reports as required by donors and/or stakeholders, in Bahasa and/or English, written or verbal, as well as a technical report.
  • Establish and maintain cooperation with stakeholders and other partners to improve community livelihoods
  • Collaborate with the communications and community outreach team to integrate community business development content for the Sumatra program.
