Communications Officer
WE EXPECT THIS POSITION TO PERFORM THE FOLLOWING DUTIES:
The Communications Officer position will support strategic communications, social media outreach, digital communications development, and community-led storytelling, among other impact-driven communication initiatives. This position will be based globally, and work remotely.
THE POSITION WILL BE EXPECTED TO:
- Maintain a communications calendar for an international audience, supporting the production of communications assets and content, ensuring consistent messaging for key targeted audiences.
- Assist in the day-to-day management of blogs, press releases, social media, e-newsletters, and other marketing and content development channels.
- Support the development and implementation of international communications strategies.
- Co-create short digital communication pieces (videos, infographics, etc) that highlight the impact and challenges faced by communities PI works with.
- Develop stories and media pieces to elevate the voices of Indigenous and local communities.
- Provide insights on ongoing communication trends and best practices.
- Track analytics and outreach performance.
- Participate in the Communications agile working group team meetings between our Indonesian and global teams.
- Support Indonesian colleagues to develop impactful community-led storytelling projects.
- Manage Media assets and provide and curate media for donor reporting needs.
- Curate and manage relationships with external media organizations to facilitate interviews and media pieces that further promote Planet Indonesia’s mission and vision.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Preferred a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of experience plus 3-5 years of relevant experience in sustainable development/ conservation work / the non-profit field supporting projects in a developing country
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Willing to spend periods of time in rural areas while spending time with partner communities
- Adaptable and flexible to changing conditions

- Good communication skills both written and oral
- Content and digital asset organizing skills
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Intermediate Bahasa Indonesia (or willing to participate in courses to learn)
LOCATION & BENEFITS
This position will be contracted through Planet Indonesia – USA (501c3) and based globally and/or remotely.
For US citizens, benefits will be based on our benefits system for US-based staff on payroll (W2 employees)
For non-US citizens, benefits will be based on our foreign contractor (18% of the total) benefits system.
Salary will be based on experience.
