The Role:
As a Forestry Specialist, you will manage the implementation of sustainable production forestry strategies both in natural and timber plantation forests in East, North and West Kalimantan, and other selected provinces in Indonesia.
What We Can Achieve Together:
Together with YKAN, a Forestry Specialist will be part of our production forestry program team, responsible for implementing sustainable forest management practices. In your role as a Forestry Specialist, your functions will encompass:
- Facilitate and Guide the Adoption of Reduced Impact Logging: Spearhead the adoption of Reduced Impact Logging for Climate Change Mitigation (RIL-C) in targeted concessions.
- Collaborate with Forestry Stakeholders: Work closely with logging concessions in the Wehea-Kelay landscape and other chosen areas, fostering a cooperative approach to implement landscape-based RIL-C.
- Enhance and Scale Innovative Forestry Practices: Refine, implement, and broaden the use of innovative scientific methods, analyses, tools, and frameworks to elevate production forest management, focusing on improved RIL-C methodologies and practices.
- Advocate for Sustainable Forest Management: Actively support the adoption of sustainable forest management practices in both natural production forestry and timber plantation concessions, ensuring compliance with mandatory and voluntary sustainability standards.
- Data Collection and Policy Support: Gather and synthesize data and insights to inform and enrich policy discussions on climate-smart forestry and green financing at local, national, and international levels.
- Build and Nurture Strategic Partnerships: Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with key government bodies, logging concessions, associations, and development partners, with a special focus on East, North, and West Kalimantan provinces.
