The Blue Carbon Analyst provides technical and scientific support for conservation initiatives in Conservation by Design (CbD) and measures of conservation success (MOS) particularly on coastal ecosystem such as mangrove including its biodiversity and carbon-related analysis.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate in conservation and have experience in collects and manages data for endangered, threatened, and special species within blue carbon ecosystem (fauna, flora/vegetation, others) and co-lead the implementation of scientific aspects of the blue carbon projects and their restoration activities. This position will be responsible for the coordination and implementation on the data compilation, collection, field survey, monitoring and producing science/program reports related to Blue Carbon project within YKAN. This position will specially support the scientific component of blue carbon ecosystem restoration activities in sites deemed appropriate for blue carbon project development.

The Blue Carbon Analyst reports to the Blue Carbon Specialist and will adopt guidance from the Indonesia Ocean Program Team. This position will be based in Jakarta office with frequent travel to project sites.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Master’s Degree in in biology, ecology, forestry, oceanography, natural resources management or science related field and minimum 1-4 years’ equivalent combination of education and experience in coastal ecosystem conservancy.
  • Mastering blue carbon ecosystem and associated biota live within the ecosystem.
  • Experience collecting, manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting scientific data.
  • Experience preparing reports of findings.
  • Experience conducting surveys, recording data, and preparing conclusive analysis.
  • Experience managing and supervising staff or contract holders.
  • Fluency in English
  • Ability to interpret guidelines and evaluate information and adapt accordingly.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to changing situations and priorities, including to identify a need for change and implement such change.
