Yayasan Humanis dan Inovasi Sosial is an Indonesian organization affiliated with Hivos, born out of an active collaboration between Netherlands-based Hivos and several like-minded Indonesian academics and civil society leaders who subscribe to the values and mission of Hivos. The purpose is to promote humanistic values in the social, economic, health, and cultural fields which is defined in terms of the ability of each individual to assess and decide independently and responsibly, the right to freedom, dignity, and a passion to create a just and tolerant society.

Yayasan seeks qualified candidates for the position of:

  • Title: Program Development Manager (PDM) Climate Justice
  • Duty Station: Jakarta, Indonesia, with scope of country including the Philippines and Timor Leste
  • Report to: Executive Director
  • Duration: 1 (one) year

Aim of the Job

A successful PDM will build a diverse portfolio of innovative, high-quality projects with strong stakeholder buy-in; that contribute to Yayasan’s long-term change ambition, achieve its funding targets, and contribute towards Yayasan’ sustainability, and contribute to the development of Yayasan’ reputation as a thought and innovation leader in the transition towards a climate justice society.

Functional Context

  • Together with the PDM Coordinator coordinate the Climate Justice Programmes. The PDM is tasked with ensuring communication and information exchange within the Climate Justice Team, with Climate Justice BDs based in other regions, and between Yayasan’s GEDI and Civic Rights impact areas.
  • The PDM Climate Justice works closely with the finance team on the design of project budgets, and with the Design, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (DMEL) Coordinator on project design, implementation, reporting, and knowledge management.
  • Works closely with the MT, other PDMs, and other staff on strategic direction, program, and business development.
  • Collaborates horizontally with the PDMs in other Hivos Hubs and at the Global Office to share experiences and strengthen each other’s portfolios and networks.

Roles and responsibilities

Programme Development

  • Working with internal (Yayasan colleagues, Climate Justice colleagues in other Hivos regional hubs) and external stakeholders and frontrunners developing innovative ideas for new projects and programs in line with Hivos and Yayasan strategy.

Fundraising/ Business Development

  • To develop a strategic and long-term Climate Justice portfolio for Yayasan, as well as smart business models and fundraising.
  • To identify and access funding sources for the Climate Justice program and together with the Hivos Global Office, to develop and implement a fundraising strategy to support a successful implementation of the Climate Justice program.
  • To provide input for funding proposals, communication materials, etc. for stakeholders and audiences, both in Yayasan and in the Global Office.
  • To take a lead on fundraising initiatives in close coordination with program and finance departments, including carrying the responsibility of coordinating proposal writing and submission procedures, ensuring full compliance with the financiers.

Managing portfolio

  • To ensure that projects after contract signing are properly started up and managed well, including team recruitment and handover to the project delivery team.

Planning, report-writing

  • To coordinate internal planning and report-writing of the Climate Justice.
  • To ensure knowledge exchange among staff.

Representing the organization

  • To present Yayasan’s vision of Climate Justice in an attractive and leading way during conferences and seminars.

Others

  • To provide input to the financial planning, budgeting, performance, capacity development, and risk management of projects.
  • To contribute to Yayasan’s overall organizational and policy development.

Knowledge, experiences, and competencies

  • At least seven years of working experience and specific expertise in the field of natural resources, forest/land use, food agri, and ocean is a must.
  • Have a convincing track record in program/proposal development and resource mobilization/fundraising.
  • Familiar with different types of development funders funding mechanisms and approaches from multilateral, bilateral, philanthropy, and foundation.
  • Has experience working or wide network with other civil society actors in the climate/environment sector in Indonesia, preferably also including in ASEAN/SEA countries.
  • Strong affinity for Yayasan’s vision and mission and for social and environmental concerns.
  • Strong motivation to contribute towards real and lasting change for the rightsholders group.
  • Able to ‘think out-of-the-box’ and connect to various actors (facilitating of multi-actor initiatives) to develop new solutions.
  • Experience with developing smart business models.
  • A leader as well as a reliable and supportive team member.
  • Excellent – externally oriented – communication skills, both verbally and in writing in English.
