OVERVIEW

SINTAS Indonesia Foundation (SIF), founded by well experienced conservation practitioners who have been dedicating their lifetime professional careers in addressing various major conservation issues. SINTAS, means “survive” and stands for Save the Indonesian Nature and Threatened Species, has been established with the realization that the success of conserving the Indonesia natural resources in the long run can only be achieved through a well-rounded leadership of the Indonesian practitioners. SINTAS believes that through its practical vision and missions, it can promote a sustainable development for both the people and the nature following the CBD’s principle of fair and equitable sharing of benefits. SIF programs are focus on: (1) Ensuring national leadership in conserving the Indonesian natural resources; (2) put in place sound science interventions to ensure effective natural resources management, and; (3) To establishment of effective stakeholders’ partnership to ensure comprehensive sustainable development.

Currently, the SIF Program focuses on site-level conservation in Aceh, West Sumatra, and East Java, with a projected development cross-provincial and island levels. At naional level, SIF supports the national government in protected area management, species conservation, law enforcement, and education as well as community empowerment. In order to strengthen our conservation program, SIF seeks a passionate and dedicated young professional to serve as a Program Manager (PM). The PM is obliged to put in place his/her duties and responsibilities within the organization as highest priorities to avoid conflicts of interest. As a member of senior staff, s/he will be responsible in managing the overall SIF projects to achieve high performance and scientific standards.

SCOPE OF WORK:

The main duties and responsibilities of the PM are to ensure that the targets and objectives of the SIF program as stated in the project proposals can be achieved with high quality and standards, maintains SIF financial systems and plans, and ensure correctness and authenticity of project financial transactions. The scope includes:

Coordination: synchronizes the overall SIF projects to ensure that all project components, including but not limited to, internal resources, business partners, and related parties are integrated and coordinated efficiently and effectively.

Management: manages the overall project resources to ensure that all project components, including human resources, funding, and equipment, are managed and implemented efficiently, effectively and accountably.

Administration and Reporting: prepares financial, administrative, and activity reports under his/her responsibility, along with all relevant supporting documentation, both in Indonesian and English (as needed), oral and written.

Evaluation: establishes key performance indicators of each project. Uses the KPIs to monitors and evaluates the progress of project implementation in timely manner.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITY

  • Understands thoroughly and deeply the background and objectives of all SIF projects as described in the SIF website.
  • Builds robust program management systems and implements project controls, governance, and standards, including coordinates and uses project resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Manages, evaluates, and monitors the implementation of project activities, and communicates with project coordinators to anticipate and resolve problems.
  • Ensures that all project reports and documentation are prepared and reported on time with high standards according to the background and objectives of the projects.
  • Collaborates with Operations Staff, develops and ensures budget allocations for projects efficiently and effectively.
  • Recruits employees in accordance with the technical and managerial qualifications required by SIF projects.
  • Leads, guides, and increases the capacity of SIF staff under their responsibilities in accordance with the personal qualifications required by the project.
  • Acts as an effective contact person with the Government of Indonesia and SIF’s strategic partners.
  • Regularly communicates the progress of the projects to the SIF Director and partners.

Please note that the above TOR constitutes only the main responsibilities and duties of this position. As SIF is a flexible organization, staff members are expected to undertake any other tasks that are allocated to them, which are not part of their regular TOR.

POSITION REQUIREMENT

This senior position in SIF and will be based in Bogor, with regular travel to project sites. The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor (5 years experiences) or MSc (3 years experiences) in biology, conservation biology, and natural resources management or related fields.
  • Highly passionate, self-motivated, and maintain professionalism.
  • Proven ability to plan and implement conservation science programs and the management of associated budgets.
  • Knowledgeable and well-experienced in advance statistical terms and the most recent biodiversity monitoring techniques are preferable.
  • Demonstrates a strong interpersonal skill to deal with a diverse group of contacts (including government and local stakeholders), and ability to be an effective team player.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Indonesian and English (a minimum of 530 institutional CBT TOEFL score or equivalent) are essential.
