Summary of Position
MDPI is seeking a Senior Communication Officer to enhance the organization's capacity to communicate with its beneficiaries, partners, and the general audience. This position plays a key role in developing and implementing MDPI’s communication strategy and will report to the Development Lead. The Senior Communication Officer will collaborate closely with MDPI’s program teams and maintain regular communication and strong ties with field-based implementers to promote and enhance MDPI’s visibility and image. The Senior Communication Officer will be responsible for creating high-quality and consistent publications and communication materials, translating complex concepts into clear and captivating content.

Role and Responsibility
External communication:
- Implement and adapt MDPI’s communication strategy, communication plans, and digital communication guidelines.
- Manage MDPI’s communication outlets, including its website and quarterly newsletters.
- Establish and strengthen media relations for story coverage (print, radio, TV, web) and produce press releases.
- Support the management of MDPI social media channels.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of MDPI’s communication aspects, in collaboration with the M&E Officer.
- Coordinate communication activities and events with program teams.
Content creation and development:
- Develop various communication tools and written materials, including annual reports, leaflets, presentations, and web articles, ensuring quality of content, production, and delivery.
- Coordinate with program teams and provide support in developing IEC materials and creating awareness-raising campaigns.
- Create campaign or promotional messages and develop thematic content to promote MDPI’s work, particularly for relevant international or national days.
Support the Development Department:
- Collaborate closely with the M&E Officer in communicating about M&E aspects and field implementations, including through digital assets and publications.
- Support the documentation of MDPI’s impact, including highlighting success stories, good practices, and lessons learned creatively.
- Assist in developing proposals, reports, and presentations for donors and stakeholders, working alongside the Development Lead.
Experience and Skills Required
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communication or a relevant field.
- Fluency in written and spoken Bahasa Indonesia and English with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Advanced analytical skills and the ability to effectively present quantitative and qualitative data to diverse stakeholders and audiences.
- At least four years of experience managing communication for an NGO, foundation, government, aid agency, or the private sector.
- Experience working in content creation and social media management.
- Excellent computer literacy and proficiency in relevant software and tools, including Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and Mailchimp.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience or interest in fisheries, marine science, and/or environmental conservation.
- Graphic design, photography, and/or video editing skills would be a strong asset.
- Experience in project management and/or monitoring & evaluation would be an asset.
- Willingness and ability to travel to implementing areas in Indonesia, including project sites located in remote coastal communities.
