Job Summary
The role of the Asia Communications Manager is to develop and lead the communications strategy for 350.org a campaign on community-centered energy climate solutions/ just transition to renewable energy in the region.
This includes managing regional communications specialists and developing and implementing an ongoing media communications strategy, to position 350’s work and that of our partners and the communities we support in the region. This will also include aligning with global communications objectives, capturing relevant global media moments, and uplifting the outputs of local communities and key partners. The work would be carried out in tandem with digital communications strategies to support 350.org’s regional campaign.
350.org is an international organization campaigning to end the age of fossil fuels and build a world of community-led renewable energy. In 2023 and beyond, we are embarking on a new strategic direction to enhance equitable climate solutions in the face of climate chaos. Our work happens across six continents, with regional and country-specific teams moving forward regional specific strategies. The Asia Regional Communications Manager is also an integral member of the 350 Communications Community of Practice, made up of communications staff from every regional team, as well as the Global Communications Team.
The role includes identifying key audiences and building strong media relations across the region, crafting our narrative and messaging, proactively seeking opportunities to communicate our core messages, handling media requests, and speaking on behalf of the organization in relevant forums and networks. This role is expected to conduct rapid response and background briefings where necessary and train 350 spokespeople and partners. This is a fast-paced job that often requires juggling multiple tasks simultaneously, often tackling several issues in parallel.
